James E. Collins is owner of COLLINS LAW FIRM, P.A. Jimmy is a member and past president of the Marion County Bar Association and the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida and United States District Court, Southern District of Florida. In 1987, upon graduation, he joined what was then Ayres, Cluster, Curry, McCall & Briggs, P.A. He became a partner in the Firm in 1990, and has now become the sole owner of Collins Law Firm, P.A., following the retirement and passing of his past colleagues and partners. He focuses his practices in civil law, including personal injury and wrongful death cases in Sumter, Marion, Lake and surrounding counties. Jimmy is AV® Rated by Martindale-Hubbell®, the highest ranking for ability and ethics.
Jimmy was born in Ocala in 1962. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida in 1984 and graduated from the University of Florida College of Law in 1987 with highest honors. Jimmy graduated in the top 1% of his law school class. While in law school, he was a member of the Law Review and was selected to the Order of the Coif. He received a Presidential Recognition Award at the University of Florida and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, where he was chosen as his fraternity’s athlete of the year for 1983-1984.
Jimmy and his wife Beth have been married for 39 years. They have four beautiful daughters, Mary Grace Williams (married to Bo Williams), Emily Collins (married to Taylor Desseberg), Caroline Collins and Anna Catherine Collins. Jimmy and Beth are now the proud grandparents of three amazing grandchildren, and they cherish every minute they are able to spend with them.
Jimmy and his family attend Grace Episcopal Church in Ocala, where Jimmy has served multiple terms on the Vestry and as Senior Warden. He also is honored to be the Head Varsity Girls VB Coach at Forest High School, as well as a coach for Ocala Power United VB Club.
Jimmy is committed to giving back to the communities that have been so gracious to him and his family. He has been very active in several community organizations such as Arnette House, YMCA, and Interfaith, where he has served on the board of directors and as president. Being an attorney gives him the honor to pursue justice for the injured and their families when a negligent, reckless or careless person or business causes injury to you or a loved one.
